Quantum-proofing XRPL: Why Ripple’s ‘timing’ could matter for XRP

One of the main themes of the 2026 crypto cycle has been the quantum-proofing of L1s.

This implies that investors are beginning to pay more attention to networks that have strong quantum-resistant capabilities. Following Solana [SOL], Ethereum [ETH], and Bitcoin [BTC], Ripple [XRP] is now looking to make the XRP Ledger quantum-resistant, putting XRPL back in the spotlight as the network prepares for the next phase of blockchain security.

As one analyst noted, Ripple’s UBRI has prioritized post-quantum cryptography as one of three research areas across more than 60 universities. Meanwhile, the XRPL has a proposed pathway for quantum-resistant signatures, with a plan to be fully post-quantum by 2028. Given that the quantum computing era is forecasted to arrive by the 2030s, XRPL is set to leapfrog “Q-Day” years ahead of time.

In short, it appears that Ripple is determined to make the XRP Ledger quantum-safe before “Q-Day” arrives, granting it a significant advantage over the competition.

The effect of this initiative may also prove meaningful for the network itself. The data from DeFiLlama show that liquidity on XRPL hits a new record: its stablecoin market cap reached a new all-time high of $1.13 billion. RLUSD, the native stablecoin of the platform, leads the pack, with its market cap growing over 18% during the last month. The increased stablecoin liquidity is a sign of activity and investment in the XRPL ecosystem.

This makes quantum resistance even more compelling for XRPL. As the L1 seeks to benefit from the influx of liquidity, stronger security could act as a  blanket for institutional adoption. With critical on-chain indicators also pointing higher, the question has to be asked whether, in making the ledger quantum safe, XRP may be pulling off its last “strategic” step ahead of the critical Q4 XRP cycle.

XRPL’s quantum push adds another bullish signal to XRP’s Q4 cycle

The “timing” for the quantum-proofing of XRPL looks strategic.

From a technical perspective, XRP closes out August with over 30% ROI, its best monthly performance since the beginning of the Q3 2025 cycle. This development, combined with an uptick in FOMO, could propel the price higher throughout September.

Notably, the chart below is already highlighting this trend. According to SoSoValue, XRP ETFs have seen over $110 million in weekly inflows. The key takeaway? This is the strongest weekly inflow of the 2026 cycle to date, suggesting growing institutional demand for XRP as the network heads into September.

Against the backdrop, the upcoming vote on the CLARITY Act could provide another bullish catalyst.

The logic is simple: As a major Layer 1 network with growing on-chain activity, XRPL could benefit from a more favorable regulatory environment if the bill passes. Combined with the increased institutional adoption and XRPL’s quantum-proofing agenda, it would set up very well for the final quarter of the year.

Therefore, XRP could be on the cusp of a new cycle with multiple catalysts converging.

Final Summary

XRPL’s quantum upgrade, rising liquidity, and strong institutional flows are adding to XRP’s bullish setup.
With the CLARITY Act vote ahead, XRP could enter Q4 with several bullish catalysts.
